Mark Schmidt of Schmidt, Kirifides, Pearson & Koutcher, P.C. of Media, Pa., joined Law Journal TV host Chris Naughton and other attorneys to provide insight on Workers’ Compensation on January 15, 2006. The show aired on Comcast WFMZ – which can be viewed in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

Mark has practiced workers’ compensation exclusively for more than a decade. In 2003, Mark appeared before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court to argue one of the most significant workmen’s compensation cases the state has seen in recent years. He is also a sought-after lecturer and speaker who has presented for the Pennsylvania and Delaware County Bar associations and several unions, among other institutions. Most recently, Mark was named to Law & Politics’ “Rising Stars” list, to be published in Philadelphia Magazine’s December 2005 issue.

Mark is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, as well as before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He is a member of the Delaware County Bar Association, including the association’s Workers’ Compensation Committee; the Pennsylvania Bar Association; the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association; and the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association.

An Upper Darby, Pa., native, Mark attended Upper Darby High School before earning a bachelors degree in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania in 1987. Mark graduated from Temple University’s School of Law in 1990. At Temple, he was a member of the Moot Court Honor Society and a moot court competition finalist.

Mark resides in West Chester, Pa., with his wife and their two children who were adopted from Russia. In his spare time, Mark enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing physical fitness activities.

Q. How long will it take to resolve my case?


Typically, it takes about a year for a Workers' Compensation claim to go through the court system, although there are instances when a settlement or agreement is reached before the case ends, and other times when the litigation takes longer. Each case is different.
